Little Baby, Big Book

Keleigh and I check out some incredibly detailed Hymalayan art. The big book was a big hit with the little one. Taken during a visit to my house in January 2008.

Jess: Banjo Prodigy

Jess plays us a little banjo at Laurel's bridal shower. True to form, she has been playing three days and you'd think it had been three years. She almost makes me sick with her ability to excel at everything! Taken 6/1/2008.

Keep Your Arms Up!

At Laurel's Bridal shower on June 1, 2008. We made Hula Hoops and tie-dyed and had a grand time. Here Laurel is trying out her new hoop, but she can only do it if she strikes a Superman pose.

Natural Bridge Falls

While the Natural Bridge collapsed long ago, the waterfall bearing the same name is still flowing strong as illustrated by this photo taken July 5, 2008. It is an amazingly beautiful place and is so wonderfully close to Billings.

An evening shot of the skyline west of Billings at the Rim Country Land Institute taken in May 2008.

Funky Face

I saw this woman several times before I was actually close enough to her to ask for a photo. I thought it was hands-down the best face paint job of the festival...at least that I saw. The eyes were really crazy looking!!

A fire my friends and I built during a trip I made back to Sidney during June 2007.

Slice anyone?

This was taken 12/1/2007, which you'd never guess by looking at it. I love the winters in Billings!! I enjoyed that this gigantic boulder looked like it had been sliced up. Taken while folfing at Phipps Park a.k.a. Diamond X.

Autumn from the Rims

Taken at the beginning of fall 2007 from the top of the rims. I love all the trees in Billings, and they really look beautiful in the fall when they are a million different shades of red, orange, and yellow. Beautiful.

Matt and Keleigh lounge on the big leather sofa. I particularly like that Keleigh is actually using the armrest. Taken during a family rendezvous in Billings during January 2008.

Birdwatcher in Green

Here I am with bird book in hand and camera case slung over my shoulder, wandering around Riverfront Park looking for birds. I am almost unintentionally camouflaged. I don't know if it helped...

Flower

This photo was also taken 4th of July weekend 2008. I love the amazing detail in the yellow center part!

Matt at Charlie's Bridge

This shot was taken 4th of July weekend 2008 when Matt and I were backpacking. The bridge in the background was built entirely by hand by the mountain man that lived in the cabin nearby. It was an amazing testament to hard work, and nature, and time.

Grasshopper in Black and White

I found this little guy this summer trying to figure a way out of my sun porch, which wasn't going well for him/her because the door was closed. I snapped a few close ups to test out the new camera before opening the door for allowing the grasshopper to escape back out to the yard. The camera was still set on black and white, so its pretty "artsy" for a bug portrait.

Solo Mushroom on the Lawn

A very green, grassy scene with a mushroom popping up right in the middle of it. Taken 6/1//2008.

Swallowtail Sideview

I have already included a photo of a swallowtail butterfly, but they are so beautiful, and this angle really captures the beauty of the different colors on their wings.

View from the Top

Here is a classically beautiful photo of our big, blue, Montana sky from on top of the rims. Taken 6/19/2008.

Orange Lily

Well, I didn't have any Halloween related photos on hand with me a work, so I settled for an orange flower instead. Taken in front of my house this summer.

Ducklings at Spring Creek

A mother duck leads her young into the Spring Creek. I particularly like that the splash caused by the ducklings was captured in this shot, taken 7/10/2008

A Very 10KLF Vegan Lunch

Just one more reason to love the 10,000 Lakes Festival...they offer delicious vegan and vegetarian food, such as the curry that Matt is about to enjoy in the picture from July 2008.

10KLF "Family Photo"

This group from our camp just happened to randomly merge together (within the thousands of other hippies) coming out of the last show at the 10,000 Lakes Festival. We thought a family photo was most definitely necessary. What a great week!

Little Bird

A cute little bird who I don't think we ever identified. But it sure was cute.

Soaring Osprey

This Osprey was seen at Lake Elmo 7/13/2008. It was so freakin' amazing to watch it soar and hover over the lake looking for fish. We saw it do a few dives, but always aborted (I assume the fish was no longer near the surface) before hitting the water. It hovered almost directly over my head for a couple minutes and you could see it turning its head from side to side scanning the lake. Really, really cool. It was also the first osprey we saw this summer, our first summer as bird watchers.

Purple Haired Chantz @ Pride

Chantz strikes a pose a PRIDE 2008 in Billings. Really he should have gotten another rainbow nipple pastie... I was glad to get to see him and take part in the festivities! It was jolly good fun. Or maybe I should quite Mr. Burns and say "That was a gay old time."

Juvenile Robin

This juvenile robin was splashing around in the puddle on the sidewalk. I captured a particularly cute pose/expression (at least in my opinion) in this shot. Taken at my house 7/11/2008.

Little Dancing Baby

Keleigh was showing off some of her dance moves...and it was just almost too cute!! Its not really a "photo," but hey...I took it with my digital camera and who is going to care!

Big Horn Ram

The Bighorn Canyon Recreation Area certainly lived up to its name. We say so many of them! This Ram was one of a group of males grazing near the road. He was massive! Taken 8/17/2008.

Toad Licker

We found a tiny little frog/toad in our campsite at the 10,000 Lakes Festival. It was so tiny and cute! Adam released it, and we hope it managed to navigate all the hippies and find its way somewhere safer.

Minnesota Moon

There were many amazing moons over the 10,000 Lakes Festival this year. This was one of them.

Great Blue Heron

A Great Blue Heron grooms itself while perched on top of a dead tree at Riverfront Park 9/8/2008. It was really fascinating to watch, and fortunately had located itself so that it was fairly easy to do so. We saw three of them that day.
